I've been quiet. I've been busy. I did something crazy and scary back in March. I applied to the Dragon*Con
Art Show. It's a juried art show. After meeting and talking to Charles Urbach last year I went back and forth for a couple months on whether or not I would give it a shot. I kept telling myself I wasn't ready. Maybe in another year. In the end, I had enough artworks for the jury process and thought, why not?
This year's Jurors were Michael C. Hayes - michael-c-hayes.deviantart.com
, Patrick J. Jones - pjartworks.deviantart.com
, and Thomas Kuebler - www.tskuebler.com
Well, if the title of this journal post is any indication... I passed the jury selection!! That was only the first step. I then had to wait another two weeks to see if I'd be placed on the floor for the Art Show. When the notice arrived that I would be in the Dragon*Con 2014 Art Show I was in shock. Sometimes I think I'm still in shock.
Since mid-April I have been hard at work in the studio planning what I would hang in in the show, which artworks would have prints available to purchase from the print shop, and of course creating art for the show. Several of my digital paintings will be embellished, mounted and framed as original artworks. Here's a peek at two such paintings:
I'm also working on a new watercolor painting that will debut at Dragon*Con as well as another digital painting. So please forgive me if I seem to disappear over the next 6-7 weeks. This is my first convention art show and I want it to be the best it can be! I'll have more details in August about the Art Show and a panel I'll be giving (Basics of Digital Painting).
